A group of three run-down apartment blocks dating from the 1960s formed the focus of this project.
This neighbourhood, which was known as “Little Istanbul,” was home to 48 families who moved to Gerlafingen at the time when the steel industry was booming. Unfortunately the properties became very dilapidated after this, the property values fell and the area as a whole became a less attractive place to live. The thorough renovation has created a further attractive living space with units at an affordable price. Some families who lived in the property prior to renovation have returned to their refurbished homes. New wooden floors, functional kitchens and modern baths provided the perfect finishing touches.
